Adhesive technology is entering into more and more areas of modern vehicle manufacturing.

Where in the past it was required to precisely position several thousand welding spots per vehicle, today innovative bonding processes ensure positive material properties, increase efficiency, and product quality too.

For riveting or bolting, holes must be drilled. This “damages” the parts which are to be joined. Through the increase in temperature, welding changes the properties of the materials, which are to be joined. In contrast to this, adhesive bonding is a low temperature joining method permitting the utilisation of widely differing materials as used in innovative lightweight construction.

An important aspect regarding quality is that of stiffness. While maintaining the same material thickness, a component joined with an adhesive will be stiffer by up to 30% compared to a component joined by relying on conventional methods, since the forces no longer occur at a single point but are transferred spread across wider surface area. Thus, thinner metal sheets can be used thereby cutting vehicle weight. Further major advantages: avoidance of contact corrosion as well as improved silencing properties and optimised absorption of vibrations.

For this reason, bonding by reliance on adhesives is today the first choice. Worldwide, automotive manufacturers are relying on Eisenmann intec adhesive systems in their production lines – with an increasing trend.

Through adhesive bonding and sealing processes with tailor-made Eisenmann intec systems technology, the vehicle production targets in areas of car shell, painting and powertrain are reached reliably, quickly and with economic efficiency.
